This is a presentation page for the game Rennspiel. It sets no cookies of its own, runs no analytics or advertising, and has no forms. What a visit leaves behind is listed here. The German version of this notice is the binding one.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted by OVH (OVH GmbH, St. Johanner Str. 41–43, 66111 Saarbrücken, Germany; OVH's privacy policy). When a page is requested, your browser necessarily sends data to the server, which is kept in log files: browser type and version, operating system, referrer URL, host name of the requesting machine, time of the request and IP address. These data are not combined with anything else and serve only to run the site securely and reliably.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a technically sound and reliable site). A data processing agreement is in place with OVH.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own. Only once you play the trailer may YouTube's player store cookies or comparable elements in your browser; see below.

Trailer from YouTube (privacy-enhanced mode)

The site embeds a video from YouTube, operated by Google Ireland Limited (“Google”), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

The video sits behind a two-click barrier: at first you see only a still picture served from our own server, and no connection to YouTube is made. Only when you press “play” is YouTube's player loaded. From that moment YouTube is told which of our pages you are on. If you are signed in to your YouTube account, YouTube can attribute your browsing to your personal profile; signing out beforehand prevents that.

We use YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode. According to YouTube, videos played in this mode are not used to personalise browsing on YouTube and any advertisements shown are not personalised. No cookies are set in this mode; instead, so-called local storage elements may be stored in your browser, which can hold personal data and be used for recognition much like cookies. YouTube is used in the interest of an appealing presentation of the game, a legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Because the player is only loaded on your click, the processing rests on your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 25(1) of the German TDDDG as far as it covers the storage of cookies or access to information on your device; consent can be withdrawn at any time. The company is certified in accordance with the “EU-US Data Privacy Framework” (DPF). The DPF is an agreement between the European Union and the US, which is intended to ensure compliance with European data protection standards for data processing in the US. Every company certified under the DPF is obliged to comply with these data protection standards. Contact by e-mail, phone or fax

If you contact us by e-mail, phone or fax, your enquiry and the personal data in it (name, enquiry) are stored and processed for the purpose of dealing with it, and are not passed on without your consent. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where the enquiry relates to a contract, otherwise our legitimate interest in handling enquiries effectively (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) or your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). The data stay with us until you ask for their deletion, withdraw your consent or the purpose lapses; statutory retention periods remain unaffected.

Links to Steam

The site links to the game's store page on Steam. A link transfers no data; once you follow it, Valve Corporation's privacy policy applies.

The game itself

This notice covers the website rennspiel.net and Schikane's YouTube channel (see below). The game is distributed through Steam and Steam's privacy policy applies to it; apart from the Steam features (achievements, cloud saves, leaderboards, lobbies) the game sends no data to us.

Our channel on YouTube

Under the name Schikane we run a channel on YouTube to present the game with trailers and videos. YouTube is operated by Google Ireland Limited (“Google”), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. This section applies when you open the channel or one of its videos on YouTube itself; videos embedded on this site are covered above.

What Google processes. When you visit the channel, Google processes your data under its own rules: among other things your IP address, details of your device and browser, the videos you watch and, if you are signed in, your Google account. Google may use cookies and similar techniques for this, use the data for advertising and transfer it to countries outside the European Union, in particular the US. We have no influence on this processing and do not know in detail which data Google keeps for which purpose. What we see. YouTube gives us statistics about the channel (YouTube Analytics), such as view counts, watch time, subscriber numbers and approximate figures on country, age, gender and devices. These are aggregated; we cannot tie them to any one person and receive no data from Google that would allow it. We use them to see which videos find an audience. If you comment on a video, subscribe or write to us through YouTube, we see your public YouTube name, your profile picture and what you wrote. We use that only to reply and to look after the channel, which includes removing or hiding posts that break the law or YouTube's rules. We do not copy these data into systems of our own. Public comments stay visible until you or we delete them.

Legal basis and responsibility. Running the channel rests on our legitimate interest in presenting the game where players look for videos and in talking to them (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Where Google asks for consent, for example for cookies, that consent is the legal basis (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25(1) TDDDG), and you can withdraw it in your Google account at any time. As far as we and Google are jointly responsible for processing (Art. 26 GDPR), for instance for the channel statistics, Google handles the processing on the platform and is best placed to tell you what it holds; you can nonetheless exercise your rights against Google or against us, and we pass a request on to Google where needed.

Encryption

The site is served over TLS (the address begins with “https://” and the browser shows a padlock), so what you send to us cannot be read by third parties in transit.

Your rights

You have the right of access to the personal data held about you (Art. 15 GDPR), and to rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). Consent you have given can be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future; the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal is unaffected. You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the member state of your habitual residence, your place of work or the place of the alleged infringement.
